Iberflora has interviewed Javier Pino, influencer who flags the Youtube channel Orchard Adictates, a channel based on tips and tutorials for gardening, macetohuerto, garden and urban garden that today has more than one million followers in this social network.
Javier will be one of the participants at the table round about the garden in social networks to be held in the space "We take you to the garden" during the morning of the 6 th October in Iberflora, along with other prominent influencers on the national scene such as Mylena Ferreira de Huertox, Ester Casanovas de Picarona Blog, Marta Rosique de Plantea en Verde, Toni Jardon from La huertina de Toni and Cé from En 20 meters.
During the event, we will be able to appreciate different points of view when exposing and illustrating with content about the urban garden on social networks, by the hand of Ángel Villarino, event moderator, member of the Organizing Committee of Iberflora and director of Fitoralia.
In which social networks or ways of communicating do you have a presence?, which of them do you feel most comfortable in?
Currently my main activity is focused on Huerto Adictos my YouTube channel, although more and more I do activities on Instagram and Facebook where there is also a lot of public that wants to continue learning about the care of plants and the garden.
How long ago did you get started seriously with communication, that is, at what point it becomes an important part of your life? What makes you take that step?
Me from my 15 years I've been in the media, both on television and radio where I hosted several programs. But really two years ago the whole takeoff of my channel began., the hundreds of subscribers became thousands and in no time in hundreds of thousands, that's when your hobby starts to take it seriously., I quit my job and dedicated myself fully to YouTube.
I guess inside me there has always been a passion for communicating and that in the end had to come out somewhere. (hahaha).
What are or were your references when you started?
It fills me to say that one of my references was Toni de The Huertina of Toni, and it is that I literally drank his videos whatever they were and how is the life that today we are friends and we will share a table in Iberflora.
Do you recommend someone other than one of your tablemates to follow?, either within the orchard world, or plants, or simply, because you like what he does and how he does it.
Of course, my good friend Jaime de Huerta Forestal makes a brother content to mine, and I say brother, not rival of course because here we all want to create that in people who see us as a passion for gardening and plants.
Do you combine your work in communication in networks and / or internet with others or do you dedicate yourself completely to it?
Before if I combined it, now luckily and for all the support received I dedicate myself to it one hundred percent and the truth is that I feel lucky to be where I am, eager to take it to the next level and start new projects.
Does it condition you to talk about certain topics the fact that it has more or less repercussion, in the number of visits or likes or you move more the artistic vein?
Of course, but it is normal, when there are many who will see you you have a very big responsibility with them and you have to always go hunting for those things that will like the most and most attractive may be and this type of thing, although the artistic vein always comes out. But always enjoying the road.
Talking about topics, just orchard or do you talk about all kinds of plants? And out of the world of plants, can you ever talk about football?, religion, policy, Anything, even if it is tangentially?
I talk a little bit about everything, of orchard, indoor plants, medicinal and healing plants, Infusions, I really try to cover the topics that I like and my community likes the most..
In this case my format does not lend itself so much to my personal opinion., is a channel made by and to be useful to those who come across my content, anyway, even if I talked more about other topics, precisely the controversial issues I would not touch ha I guess you have to respect the position of each one.
The followers and attention they require, Questions, feedback..., Do you attend to everything and you have to limit it in some way?
I always try to respond as much as possible, but it is impossible to reach everyone, I wish it could. And a lot of people are curious because they get upset., but they must understand that a day some are generated 2000 average comments between YouTube, Facebook, Instagram… And those numbers are already unscathable..
Do you think that the pandemic has incorporated new profiles of followers and fans of the world of the garden?
The pandemic has had and unfortunately has its shadows, but if we have to highlight any of its lights it has been this, the passion that many people have poured into their plants, its gardens and orchards. To my way of seeing it has been an awakening I think and many people have seen what is really important. People have begun to value the fact of having a piece of soil or pots and being in contact with the natural. Picking up their own food at home and looking more for health became the hobby of many during the pandemic..
You will be part of a round table on orchards and social networks in this next edition of Iberflora, what do you think of the initiative, you've done something similar before.?
When I learned that I was invited sincerely I was very excited, I think it will be an important and necessary sharing. I had really been at roundtables, but of other themes, that it is now from orchards and social networks makes it even more interesting. Always grateful for the welcome and invitation and of course more than willing to return in future editions.
