IN 2012, IBERFLORA PROPOSES SUSTAINABLE ROUNDABOUTS DESIGNED WITH MEDITERRANEAN PLANT MATERIAL

With its forthcoming event, which will be held at Feria Valencia from 3rd to 5th October, Iberflora is placing the finishing touches to its official parallel events programme. This programme of activities will include urban solutions in what will this year be its area set up as “Roundabouts: a landscaping synthesis”.

This forthcoming event has devised this project in collaboration with plant and flower growers, landscape gardeners and a firm specialised in the production of substrates and soils, which will provide visitors with a different roundabout model designed with Mediterranean plant material.

“We have opted for roundabouts conceived as a combination of an urban solution and an aesthetic solution which, at the same time, joins both through the sustainability concept”, explains Vicente Peris Alcayde, the Iberflora Chair.

According to Vicente Peris Alcayde, “with this initiative, we wish to provide an alternative to fit out urban roundabouts where their landscaping is respected without forgetting the need to truly meet preestablished urban requirements”.

Basically, “Roundabouts: a landscaping synthesis” addresses the institutional channel, although ultimately, it also intends that the solutions presented in the project reach end consumers.

The Iberflora chair concludes that “The idea also intends that consumers understand that resorting to olive trees and other autochthonous species for their gardens can prove not only an excellent aesthetic solution, but also a sustainable option, for example, in saving substantially in irrigation water”.
